About me

My career began in journalism and online publishing, with work spanning business publications in North America and Europe. Over time, my focus shifted from creating digital content to understanding the systems behind it: how people find information, what makes them take action, how organizations measure results, and how technology can make marketing more effective.

Today, my work covers digital strategy, SEO and paid media, CRM and marketing automation, web strategy, analytics, accessibility, content and marketing technology. I’ve built and managed digital programs for organizations in professional services, education, cybersecurity and the nonprofit and public-interest sectors. Along the way, I’ve helped grow online businesses, build audiences from the ground up, implement marketing automation and CRM systems, and turn digital activity into measurable pipelines and revenue.

I hold a Master of e-Business Technologies from the University of Ottawa and an MA in Journalism and Communication from Ball State University. That combination of technology and communication continues to shape how I think about marketing.

Barankevych.com is where I write about what I’m learning, questioning and observing in digital marketing—particularly where marketing, technology and growth intersect.

I’m less interested in the latest marketing trick than in a more fundamental question:

What actually makes digital marketing work?
